John and Donna have travelled across Australia and Internationally, speaking at hearing loss events, conferences, and rehabilitation workshops. Their lived experience—John as a cochlear implant recipient and passionate advocate, and Donna as an early childhood educator, carer, and support partner—means they bring both professional insight and deep personal understanding to every session.
They understand that:
Having a rehab partner can dramatically influence your recovery and hearing outcomes post-surgery.
Your family, spouse, or friends need guidance too. They play a vital role in creating a supportive listening environment.
If you're living with hearing loss, it’s just as important to learn how to advocate for yourself, ask for what you need, and adapt communication tools that work for you.
As John’s wife, I’ve walked beside him through every part of his hearing loss journey—from the early signs of struggle to the complete loss of sound, and then through the life-changing experience of receiving cochlear implants.
But what many people don’t see is the emotional toll it can take behind closed doors. There was a time when hearing loss brought John to such a dark and isolating place that I walked in on him during one of his lowest moments. The pain, the silence, the feeling of being disconnected from the world—it nearly cost him his life. Our children saw the physical evidence of how deeply he was hurting. It shook our family to the core.
We never want another family to go through that alone.
This journey has drawn us closer and made us stronger. And it’s why we now offer personal, couple, and family support—because hearing loss doesn’t just affect one person. It touches everyone who loves them.
Rehabilitation is about more than surgery or sound processors. It’s about healing relationships, learning to communicate again, and helping the people around you understand what you’re going through. It’s about finding your voice—together.
If you're navigating hearing loss, or loving someone who is, you don't have to do it in silence. We're here to help you reconnect, rebuild, and recover—one conversation at a time.
